The increase in access and use of data by councils for improving local services raises the need for greater transparency and conversations with residents about such data use. This survey is an opportunity for Barnet Council’s Insight and Intelligence Team to understand more about residents’ attitudes around Barnet Council’s use of data.
By data, we mean information about people, places and systems.
Data about people can include personal data, such as basic contact details and demographic information, as well as records of interactions with council services. Data about places can include details about location as well as the environment we live in. Data about systems can include administrative records about public services such as bin collections and managing our green spaces. Some data records may includes all three types of data.
This survey is our first step in determining how residents feel about the use of such data by the council. The results of this survey will help us to identify under which circumstances residents tend to supportive of its use, where they tend to be less supportive, as well as where there may be concerns and possibly misconceptions around how the council uses data. The survey findings will also help to inform how the council involves residents in future conversations around the use of data across our services.
This short survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete and is fully anonymous.
