Silver Week is a week dedicated to celebrating and hosting fun and free activities for older people. with the aim of both tackling loneliness and isolation, and focusing on the contributions older people have made to communities and to our society.
During Silver Week there will be a week of activities where both older people and people of all generations can come together to meet new people, visit new places, try new activities and connect with their local communities and the generations around them.
As part of this, Barnet Council will be celebrating Silver Week in partnership with our community groups by hosting and providing funding for a series of community events.
Local communities and organisations can apply apply for a grant of £500 - £1,000 to host an event or activity to celebrate Silver Week.
Applications For Funding are now closed.
In exceptional circumstances bids over £1,000 will be considered. The grant can support new or already planned activities that are open to all members of the local community. Examples of events and activities include talks, film showings, performances, art projects and exhibitions, food and cooking events. Joint applications are encouraged and will be considered.
