This short survey draws questions from two unconnected areas of the council's work: waste management for our street scene team, and rights of way for our highways team.
The first set of questions relate to waste management. All councils in England are required to set up a separate collection of food waste by the end of March 2026. Recent analysis in Barnet showed that over 40% of the weight of refuse bin contents was food waste. Food waste costs much more to dispose of in refuse bins than it does to recycle it. The council is working to provide a sustainable recycling and waste collection service to all residents and is seeking your views on food waste and the wider collection services.
The second set of questions relate to rights of way. Barnet Council is developing a comprehensive Public Rights of Way Improvement Plan. As part of this initiative, we are conducting an assessment to understand how well our local rights of way meet the current and future needs of the community. To help us create a plan that truly benefits everyone, we would love to hear about your experiences using various public routes. These include public footpaths in both urban and rural areas, bridleways, cycle-tracks, routes within parks, and any other paths that are not adjacent to roads. Please note that this plan does not cover pavements beside the road.
Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. Please tick the relevant option or options, as specified in each question, that are closest to your experience or opinion.
Please complete the survey by Tuesday 21 January 2025 to be entered into the prize draw to win one of three love2shop vouchers: £200, £100 and £50
