CPZs are designed to ensure fair access to parking and to help resolve parking pressures.
We regularly monitor parking across Barnet and actively listen to feedback from the public. By analysing the data gathered, we implement measures aimed at reducing congestion and enhancing pedestrian safety.

What happens after the engagement or consultation closes?
We will review all feedback received after the engagement or consultation close date. We will then provide recommendations whether to progress the scheme, with or without modification, or not to progress.
Once a decision has been made, we will inform affected residents and businesses by letter and publish the results on the relevant scheme page.

To help us understand residents parking needs and concerns, we will usually conduct informal parking engagement.
The informal parking engagement helps us to understand issues that residents are facing and assist us in ensuring that any proposals take resident concerns into account.
We do not have any current informal schemes, but we update this page regularly so check back soon to leave your comments on the CPZ schemes.
Upcoming experimental CPZ statutory consultations
An experimental Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) is usually introduced on an 18-months, with the first 6-months constituting the statutory consultation.
Prior to the launch of the consultation period, we will inform residents of:
- our experimental CPZ proposals
- sign, road marking and necessary infrastructure implementation dates
- how to apply for a permit.
We do not have any upcoming experimental schemes, but we update this page regularly so check back soon to leave your comments on the CPZ schemes.
Current experimental CPZ consultations
We introduce a CPZ using an 18-month experimental traffic order. The first 6 months is the statutory consultation period and provides residents the opportunity to experience living with the new measures and provide their feedback. It also enables officers to assess the effectiveness of the scheme and make changes if needed
Feedback received during the statutory consultation period is reviewed after the first 6 months and helps us decide whether to make the scheme permanent, or whether any amendments are required. If amendments are required, we might run a further 6-month statutory consultation.
