Halliwick Recreation Ground, Friern Barnet - playground consultation
Overview
Barnet has a great collection of parks and open spaces, and these are an important part of the borough. Our greenspaces provide a range of benefits for residents, visitors and for those that work in the borough.
We are working with the Friends of Halliwick Recreation Ground to improve the play facilities at Halliwick Recreation Ground. The council’s East Area Committee has agreed to allocate £150,000 to the project and the Friends are securing the remaining funding to give a budget of £200,000 for the new play facilities.
The proposed playground refurbishment is, for the fenced playground under the large tree and it also includes plans to have equipment outside of the fenced area. The existing play equipment next to the tennis court will remain unchanged.

What happens next?
The council will review the outcomes of the play consultation to see if there is any interest in changing the play facilities and if so what to. The outcomes will then be discussed with the Friends of Halliwick Recreation Ground and the play contractor, to see what changes it is possible to do within the budget that is available. The council will then agree the final plans with the play contractor, including the location of the equipment and the play contractor will be commissioned to carry out the work. The work is likely to take place in autumn 2025.
The council will publish the consultation findings on this page and we will also let you know how we are acting on the results of the consultation under ‘We asked, You said, We did'.
